West to West – Bridging Portugal and Silicon Valley
Mission - We are Portuguese entrepreneurs and Portugal supporters. Some of us were born in the Valley. Some of us are recent immigrants. Some of us own well established companies. Some are still in the first phases of funding. We're all collaborative and altruistic. Above all, we believe we're stronger together and can help establish Portugal as a brand which also stands for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Our Approach - We believe Portuguese entrepreneurship is undervalued in Silicon Valley. West to West was created to help strengthen the network of Portuguese entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley. We help with expertise, feedback, connections. We also help Portuguese entrepreneurs who are not moving to Silicon Valley but still want to learn from it. In the Valley, we organize events, social and professional. We promote peer groups and provide the setting for safe discussion of sensitive topics. We help with a list of members, connections and introductions. Visit us at: http://westtowest.org/
Portugal Ventures powered by Leadership Business Consulting
In 2013 Portugal Ventures established an accelerator in San Francisco. The objective of setting up an accelerator in the world’s leading innovation hub was to support the development and growth of Portuguese start-ups, by opening up the doors to the world and this unique ecosystem.
Companies have the opportunity to connect with all players in the ecosystem; serial entrepreneurs, start-ups, established companies, venture capitalists and business angels, with great investment track records. Thus generating new contact networks and obtaining crucial feedback on their business.
Located at Runway, one of the most recent and fastest growing incubators, Portugal Ventures’ accelerator is part of a vibrant start-up ecosystem.
Founded in 2013, Runway opened its orange doors on a mission to build the best community of entrepreneurs in San Francisco. Located on the 4th floor of 1355 Market St. (home to Twitter, Yammer, Sosh, and One Kings Lane), Runway is at the epicenter of innovation flourishing in the Mid-Market neighborhood.
Companies that set up shop in the accelerator can also count on support from Leadership Business Consulting, which has vast experience in supporting start-ups and more mature companies settle and grow in the Bay Area.
Portugal Ventures’ accelerator in Silicon Valley is open to companies and to the entire Portuguese technology-based entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Presently, there are approximately 2000 PAPS members distributed over 13 North American chapters - Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, Texas, Toronto, Washington D.C. - and one based in Lisbon that supports members returning to Portugal. Given the widespread geography of its chapters, PAPS is rooted on several online platforms such as a website and chapter-specific mailing lists and Facebook groups.
